Rise of the Techno-terrestrials
Article by Citizen X.
With today's modern society advancing technologically at rates much faster than the previous 100 years, mankind is on the brink of becoming what I am going to call a techno-terrestrial society. Others may call this the Transhumanist movement, but I personally don't like the term. The reason I choose to use the term Techno-terrestrial is because not only are we using technology to build bigger better people but we are also applying technology in other areas such as the environment, therefore altering the natural world according to how we see fit. Therefore the term terrestrial not only can apply to humans but also to the natural world around us not limited to animal life, think of the cattle and other animals we are genetically modifying to be bigger and produce more meat. We are modifying food to last longer using animal preservatives.
Eventually, humanity will come face to face or shall I say interface with the technology we have created in a moment that has become known as the singularity after this time has occurred humanity will have been transformed into a new species, a species that depends solely on its own technological advancement as we move more from man to machine.
There have been significant leaps in the field of Nanotechnology, and artificial limbs and organs. Soon we will be using nanotech in modern medicine practice in the form of pills that can enter into our blood stream and fix problems from the inside out.
There is no telling in 100 to 1 million years if we will even be able to recognize ourselves or be able to identify as humans at all. Honestly, I don't think we will be able too.
We will in our own weird way become alien to ourselves, a new face will rise on the face of the Earth. It will be the rise of the Technoterrestrial.
